"We have camped in various campsites in Mozambique but the ones at Sunset Beach Resort were of the best. I loved having my own toilet and kitchen area for our family. The setting of the campsites were also very good. I loved the view from the top of the deck. The restaurant was really great and the food very very good.

The Managers Charles and Carryl were really great and made us feel very welcome. Been a travel agent I am very critical. Your chalets especially the new ones are of the best ones I have seen in Mozambique. The facilities are great and you do not have to bring any cutlery and linen.

"Myself and my partner drove from Komatipoort to Sunset Beach Lodge in around 4 hours. The road is superb all the way to Xai Xai. After Xai Xai there is a scattering of potholes but not too bad. All vehicles can get to the lodge (we drove in a Golf 4). We were there to film and photograph the lodge and it's surrounding attractions. We were not disappointed, we had a fantastic time. The lodge is very nicely furnished with a detailed finish. The enormous decking area overlooking the Indian Ocean instantly takes your breathe away. The shoot went really well and with such stunning views and sense of isolation and peace, filming was a pleasure! Such a great place to unwind, away from the city stress of Johannesburg.

At this time of year the sun rose over the sea, and I recommend this experience to everyone. With a cup of coffee and a rusk aiding the 5am wake up, you cast your gaze over an orange sky. The mist rises off the red coloured sea and it's an incredible way to start a Mozambique morning! The Cathedral, light house, Kings Pools and various inland lakes surrounding the lodge are a must, if you can pull yourself away from the vast and vacant stretches of soft, sandy beaches.

You can walk to the beach from the lodge down a sand dune or by 4x4 track. After a days relaxing, fishing, walking, snorkeling, exploring, a full bar is available back at the lodge and the restaurants local chefs cook up a storm. The decking is the place to be for sun downers as you watch the end of a day beautifully slip behind the horizon.

The lodge provides self catering chalets, 5 star chalets and beautifully located and well designed camping areas, both covered and open.

The staff were a great help. They went out of their way to aid our needs and made all the filming run very smoothly. Myself and Kirsten had a brilliant time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We shall be back soon and look forward to our return.

"Hi Cynthia, Ons was baie beindruk met hoe Casa 1 binne lyk - julle is definitief besig om 'n nuwe standaard te stel in Mosambiek.

Ons wil jul ook graag komplimenteer met die bestuur by Sunset. Charles en Carryll is definitief ingestel op klientediens, en dit is sommer lekker om daar aan te kom en sulke vriendelike en hulpvaardige bestuur tee te kom.
Met ons vorige besoek het hulle spesiaal vir ons 'n braaier gereel en gerieflik neergesit, toe ons in 'n 'Non-catering' eenheid gebly het.

Hierdie keer het hulle spesiaal gebel, toe hulle gedink het ons moes al die aand opgedaag het - wat mens sommer gerus laat voel, want ten minste weet jy dat as jy iets oppad oorkom, sal iemand darem begin om na jou te soek.

Verder het hulle 1 hele aand en volgende dag krag-onderbrekings gehad in die tyd wat ons daar was, en ten spyte daarvan dat mens kon sien hul het maar deur die nag gesukkel, het hulle nogsteeds met glimlagte koffie en ontbyt in die restaurant bedien, toe meeste van ons restaurant toe is omdat ons nie self iets kon voorberei nie - en hul het ook net nood-krag gehad!.

Ons was mal oor julle plek en gaan defnitief weer,ek en die twee girls kan nie uitgepraat raak oor die lekker kuier en die baie lekker atmosfeer wat Oom Dannie en Tannie Elsa skep by die lodge en die kom in, kom gesels tyd by die restuarant en bar,dit was baie lekker en julle het regtig twee juwelle wat die plek run. Die kos was great en die staff self baie vriendelik en julle gaan ons defnitief weer sien. Die verblyf was net so lekker en het baie gerieflik gebly en dit was lekker om wakker te word en net jou kop te lug en uit te kyk oor die water!!!!"

It was a pleasure to cook with the new stove and the casa is so well appointed and beds so comfy its a place we look forward to going back to! We visited during December 2009, your hospitality on the deck was outstanding, thank you for a wonderful lunch. We are two families that camp with 2 x caravans, if at all possible could we book LULU and the site next to it and park our caravans against the wall where the cars normally park, would you allow this. This barraca is very similar to the one we stay at in coconut bay and this would be our first choice.
As we use the Barraca for kitchen and living and the one next door we would put the 3 x tents. Our date would be the 19 Dec to the 2 January 2010"

"Hi there Cynthia. We had an AWESOME time at Sunset Beach. We found the facilities clean and 'user friendly' and would MOST certainly return. Now that we know the layout we have earmarked which campsite we would like to book in future but on the whole all the sites looked great. The lodge is really clean and the staff - obviously present, but we didn't even see them - they were like angels in the night cleaning bins and placing the paper in the loos.

We also enjoyed the 'lapa' on the beach and spent the whole day there! That is really a great idea.

"Dear Elsa, Hello from Johannesburg, the fast lanes, doing things quickly and only getting time to relax when you go the bed.

With regards to our visit to Mozambique, and especially Sunset Beach Lodge during the month of January 2010.

We would like to thank you and your staff for the hospitality we experienced while at the lodge, it was the best ever and being first time visitors to Mozambique is something we did not expect, but less said we had a lovely time.

Elsa, you made us feel at home, when we left it was like we were leaving a family member behind, we really enjoyed ever moment we were there, and especially our trip to the Woolworths, it was great, and the flea market and the goods we bought, everyone that got a gift, because when we got back we bought little gift bags and placed the gifts into them and then handed them over to the girls, well they thought we must have spend a fortune on the goods we did not even bother disclosing the amounts, they all loved the gifts.

Well, that was an experience on it own, and the photos are a reflection of our experience in Mozambique.

And not to mention we bragged so much about our fresh rolls we had every morning, everybody wants to come over and experience what we had, and the food, say hi to all the staff and especially Nella and Vasco they were suburb and really cool, and I miss the food and those drinks and we still enjoying the chilly mix.

So to say it all, we had a lovely time, we really had a great time and will see you all soon

And we will get there with a 4X4 so we can visit the rest of the coast line and also take some tour with you ELSA, you were great, thumbs up and keep it that way.

Will be booking soon and a bigger place with more guest and friends.

But once we received it, it was worth the wait. We didn't receive any toilet paper at our bathrooms.. But no stress we went and bought. Otherwise our stay was very good. For First time in Mozambique it was really a great holiday. The snorkeling was an experience too. Very nice beach. Will definitely come through again"
